"Sailing the Nile for the Millennium Development Goals" is a joint UN led initiative that brings together National and International NGO's, Government, the private sector and civil society in a collaborative effort to raise awareness and trigger local action around the MDG's.
This initiative covers 8 Governorates in Egypt. On October 17th "Sailing the Nile" will launch its MDG campaign with Stand Up events covering the 8 Governorates from Aswan to Cairo.
These will include rallies, parades, workshops and live concerts.
* In Cairo the event will take place at El Gezirah Gardens in Zamalek (under Kasr el Nil bridge).

* 01:00 - 03:00 pm
a youth workshop on root causes of Poverty and youth action around poverty
* 03:30 - 10:00 pm
a music festival consisting of 4 local bands (Besheer, Black Theama, Eskendrella & Sa7ra )
