Sahara Dance, Washington DC’s Center for Middle Eastern Dance, presents its sixth annual “Under a Desert Moon” gala featuring four shows on Saturday and Sunday, May 10th and 11th, at American University’s Greenberg Theatre.
This exhilarating production showcases over 150 belly dancers and musicians, and features Sahara Dance founder Rachel Kay Brookmire, Sahara Dance faculty, and The Calmes Triplets, as well as members of the professional ensembles Raqs Sahara and Sahara Tribal, student company Raqs Caravan, and the drummers of Sahara Tabla. “Under a Desert Moon” is the largest Middle Eastern dance theatre production in the US and draws over one thousand paid attendees each year.
