After meeting back home in Indiana in late 2005, Jeremy Wilson (acoustic guitar/lead vocals) and Kirby Hammel (keys/backing vocals) spent the next two years discussing their collective musical vision and the band that would be necessary to bring it to fruition. Kirby moved to Berkeley during the summer of 2006, and Jeremy joined him one year later to pursue their goals in earnest. The two spent the latter months of 2007 and the first half of 2008 searching for musicians who shared their love for boot-stompin’ American music and heartbreaking country tunes. Joined at last by Dave Kardes (bass), Scott Appleton (steel guitar/lead guitar), and Eddie VanCott (drums), the Sacred Profanities are five folks from different locations and generations with incurable musical addictions. Their style is in the vein of hackneyed suburban backwoods yuppie cosmic American country folk-rock tearjerkerin' lullabies straight out the saloon.

We are currently in the process of recording our debut album with Garth Webber at his Red Rooster Studios in Berkeley, CA and are booking show dates through the summer and into the fall. We begin a residency at Peri’s in Fairfax, CA starting July 2nd and continuing the first and third Wednesday of every month thereafter. The Sacred Profanities are also regulars at Beckett’s in Berkeley, CA and have performed at the Café du Nord, The Rockit Room, and Ireland’s 32, all in San Francisco.
