The opening celebration of the 2008 Heart Gallery of Sacramento exhibit will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Library Gallery at Sacramento State University, 6000 J St.
The awareness-raising photo exhibit features professional-quality photos of children who are waiting for permanent homes through adoption. The public is invited to view the photos and talk with social workers and adoptive parents. Children featured in the exhibit have also been invited to attend.
The exhibit will be on display at the Library Gallery from Oct. 14 to Nov. 22.
In Sacramento County, an estimated 1200 foster children need permanent homes through adoption or guardianship. The goal of the Heart Gallery is to focus on specific children while encouraging people to think about adoption as a great way to start or expand a family.
The gallery features children who are part of sibling sets and need to be adopted together, have disabilities, or are adolescents. These are the children most in need of adoptive homes in our community.
The event is a part of National Adoption Awareness Month in November.
The Heart Gallery of Sacramento is collaboration between Sacramento State University, Sacramento County Child Protective Services, Sierra Adoption Services, Lilliput Adoption Services, and CASA of Sacramento.
Free includes drinks and appetizers.
