Sun, March 21, Workshop: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM; Living Room Concert: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Improve your singing, enjoy an intimate performance, or both! Spend the day with acclaimed performer and vocal coach Ruth Gerson who, according to Stephen Holden of the New York Times, is a cross between Natalie Merchant and Patti Smith with a dash of the youthful Grace Slick thrown in for spice.
Gerson has been teaching voice in New York City for eleven years. Her workshop will touch on many aspects of singing as well as performance issues and songwriting. Later, she'll be performing a "Living Room Concert," the most up-close and intimate way to experience live music. Her concert will consist of songs from her critically acclaimed albums Fools & Kings, Wake To Echo, and her newest album, This Can't Be My Life, a moving album full of strong melodies, great vocal prowess and deeply personal lyrics.
"With a voice that rises from tender endearments to a bluesy, impassioned growl, Ruth Gerson sings folk-rock songs that reach for the status of anthems; she's a Bob Dylan fan who can be as galvanic as Bruce Springsteen." - Jon Pareles, The New York Times
