The Rural Alberta Advantage (RAA) plays music about, well, the advantages of growing up in rural Alberta. Reminiscences about summers in the Rockies, winters on the farm, hometowns, and heartbreak cast a bittersweet glow on its acoustic indie-rock. Now based in Toronto, RAA has been compared to another Canadian favorite, Neutral Milk Hotel, due to its singer’s wavering, earnest voice. The band has just been signed to U.S. indie giant Saddle Creek, and its debut album Hometowns will be out on July 7.
Four-piece Hollerado, called “the most exciting new band out of Montreal” by Pop Montreal, opens for RAA at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
