The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Holds 29th Annual Rubin Run on Mother's Day to promote healthy families. There will be a Spin-A-Thon, kids' carnival and more. Slated for Mother's Day, the family event will celebrate family togetherness and community in a day of shared fitness and fun. Named for the late Leonard Rubin, a past president and founder of the JCC, who always sought to do the most where the need was greatest, this is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding fundraisers the JCC holds. People interested in participating in the race can now register online at www.active.com or visit the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades website at www.jccotp.org for registration forms. Featuring a 10K, 5K run/walk and spin-a-thon, the event will offer something for everyone: a continental breakfast, a carnival, activities for children and as a special token, all participating moms will receive roses as they cross the finish line. The JCC's professional fitness staff will lead pre-race stretches and warm-ups, and awards will be given to winners in each age category. Participants can run alone or create their own team of four or more to run the relatively flat course through the tree-lined streets of Tenafly, Englewood and Englewood Cliffs. New to the event this year, the run will feature two, one-hour spin-a-thons, the first at 8 am and the second at 9:15 am. Space is limited to the first 58 people, so early registration is advisable.
