WHAT: The 54-hole RR Donnelly LPGA Founders Cup marks the return of the LPGA to the Phoenix area, the first time since 2009, when it tees off at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge’s own Wildfire Golf Club. Professional female golfers from across the country will participate and forego tournament earnings to support LPGA Foundation and its LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program which impacted more than 6,600 young girls in 2010. The tournament will feature a Pro/Am game on Thursday March 17th, with the first round on Friday March 18th and final on Sunday March 19. The relaxed atmosphere of the LPGA makes a great outing for families and avid golfers alike.
Wildfire Golf Club, a multi-award winning course including one of the Top 75 Resorts in North America by Condé Nast readers, voted “Best Courses You Can Play” by Golfweek Magazine, and “Best Resort Course in the Southwest” by Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine, features two picturesque 18-hole courses designed by two of golf's greatest legends--Arnold Palmer and Nick Faldo.
