Winner of the 1999 "Comeback Artist of the Year" W.C. Handy and Living Blues magazine awards, Houston, Texas native Roy Gaines has been playing piano and guitar since he was six years old. He officially gave up the guitar when he realized it was easier to flirt with the girls in the audience when he was not tied to a piano bench. Gaines has toured with Ray Charles, and done session work with Bobby "Blue" Bland and Junior Parker. 1996 marked his first solo recording. His most recent recording is The First TB Album, a showcase for Roy's remarkable singing, songwriting and guitar playing.
