Have fun exploring the many shapes you can create with a loop of rope and a motor! You get to manipulate factors, such as friction and the trajectory of the rope, to make the rope take on different shapes. Can you predict what shape your changes will produce? Can you think of other forces that might affect the rope's shape? This addition to the permanent collection of the museum was developed by the Exploratorium, a leading science center.
