Room for Doubt
Wendy Lesser, editor of The Threepenny Review, originally went to Berlin to write about the philosopher David Hume, but was confronted about her feelings about Germany, and her identity as a Jew. Profoundly moved by the arts and culture of this vibrant city, she writes with candor about her epiphany about Berlin, her unwritten book, and her life-long relationship with Leonard Michaels.

Wendy Lesser is the editor of The Threepenny Review and the author of seven previous books. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Remarque Institute, and the American Academy in Berlin. She divides her time between Berkeley and New York.
