Forget what you think you know about Virginia wines. The Roof Terrace Restaurant at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is calling all 'locapours' to try the best that area vineyards really have to offer. As part of its monthly Wine & Cultural Celebration Series, the Roof Terrace Restaurant will host a Drink Local! strolling reception and tasting, featuring labels from several prominent Virginia winemakers on Monday, November 15th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

The restaurant invites guests to savor the reds, whites, rosés and sparkling selections that Sommelier John Coco has carefully chosen from Pollak Vineyards from Charlottesville; Mountfair Vineyards from Blue Ridge Mountains; Chester Gap Cellars from Front Royal; Fabbioli Cellars from Leesburg; Gabriele Rausse from Charlottesville, regarded by many as the pioneer of Virginia winemaking; and Claude Thibaut of Thibaut-Janisson, also from Charlottesville, whose sparkling wine was served at President Obama’s first White House State Dinner. ‘Locavores’ are also welcome as Executive Chef Joe Gurner has created a menu of small plate dishes that highlights the region’s farm-fresh, seasonal ingredients.

In addition, Virginia’s own Middle Distance Runner, a well-known indie pop band, will provide live entertainment for the night. The aptly named Roof Terrace provides the perfect backdrop for an autumn evening – the Potomac River horizon at sunset and a grand view of Northern Virginia stretching away from the city into peaceful wine country.

Drink Local! is $40.00 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and space is limited. To RSVP, please call 202.416.8555 or visit us at www.roofterracerestaurant.com or www.opentable.com.
