At the beginning of the 21st century, during a time when digital photography is ubiquitous, select contemporary artists use historic, or antiquarian, processes in photography? including daguerreotypes, tintypes, and ambrotypes?obsolete film, and camera-less or hand techniques. The exhibition investigates the romanticism implied in such strategies, as well as the artist?s simultaneous reference to the medium of photography. A small section of anonymous historic, nineteenth century tintypes introduce the exhibition.
