Two Stages of Music Set For
Carmel Arts & Design District’s
ROCK THE DISTRICT
Carmel , IN – Two stages filled with a lineup of professional and local bands will be present to entertain visitors at the Carmel Arts & Design District’s ROCK THE DISTRICT event on Saturday, July 7th, 2007. The Main Stage is located in the National City Bank parking lot on the northeast corner of Range Line Road and Main Street , with entertainment taking place from 12:30 – 8 p.m. A special guest performance from national recording artist and district resident, Jon McLaughlin, takes place at the Main Stage starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 7th.
Due to an overwhelming response of bands and musical groups interested in performing at ROCK THE DISTRICT, a second stage of music was added to the entertainment lineup for Saturday, July 7th. The second stage is located off Main Street near the intersection of Main and First Avenue NW with bands playing from 11:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.

In addition to musical entertainment at the two stages, other local musicians and musical groups will be performing in individual merchants’ stores or along Main Street and throughout the Arts & Design District. A ROCK THE DISTRICT Preview Party is scheduled Friday night, July 6th from 5-8 p.m. Musicians and professional music groups will be present as participating merchants host individual “Open Houses” with refreshments, gift drawings and other special activities. The Indiana Wind Symphony will give a special performance at the National City Bank parking lot from 6:15 -8 p.m. Barometer Soup will also perform in the Arts & Design District that evening.
The Carmel Arts & Design District’s ROCK THE DISTRICT is a community event featuring local and professional bands, Main Street “Sensational Sidewalk Sale,” free gift giveaways, and other entertaining activities highlighting the merchants of the Arts & Design District. ROCK THE DISTRICT takes place Saturday, July 7th from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., with performances on the Main Stage at the National City Bank parking lot from 12:30-8 p.m. A preview party including music and merchant open houses is scheduled for Friday, July 6th from 5 – 8 p.m.
National recording artist and District resident, Jon McLaughlin, is headlining the event with a special performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 7th. Anderson native Jon McLaughlin’s first album debut, INDIANA , hit stores last month with overwhelming response. A free download from Apple’s iTunes on-line music store along with a rave review in People Magazine recently catapulted his music career. His first release “Beautiful Disaster” can also be found on the motion picture soundtrack of “Georgia Rule” starring Jane Fonda and Lindsay Lohan.
