The 'Rock Hall of Fame' looks at the diversity of rocks from Virginia and around the world. This exhibit explores how people use rocks and minerals in their daily lives. The three different rock groups (igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic) and the different structures that rocks can form over time are represented and explained with samples. There is an interactive geologic map of Virginia that visitors can use to find out where certain minerals can be found. A rock quarry diorama allows visitors to get a closer look at how rocks and minerals are taken from the earth. Visitors can also learn about cave formations, or amazing geodes in this wonderful exhibit.
