The unofficial spokesperson for the group of abstract painters known as the New York School, Robert Motherwell had a long career as a painter, printmaker, writer and critic during a fertile period in modern art. Organized by the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, this exhibition brings together some of Motherwell's best known works and themes, such as his interests in Asian traditions and Latin culture and his intense use of the color black.
