A new Ring cycle is lighting up the Metropolitan Opera this season, and it’s being directed with characteristic gusto and daring by Canadian stage director Robert Lepage. The second production of the four-opera cycle by German composer Richard Wagner is Die Walküre, which opens on April 22. Lepage is directing each of the subsequent operas in the cycle for the Met, having opened the first, Das Rheingold, to positive reviews in fall 2010.
