The public is invited to a meeting Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at The Centre’s Heritage Ballroom, 100 Symphony Way, to discuss potential improvements along downtown’s riverfront between Chicago Street and Prairie Street.
“The purpose of the meeting is to gather input from residents, property owners, business owners, and others interested in how the downtown riverfront can be reshaped to be a more pedestrian-oriented public space,” said John Loete, Elgin’s Public Works Director. “It’s also going to address the reconstruction or replacement of the Riverside Parking Deck.”
The 2000 Riverfront/ Center City Master Plan identified the Riverside Parking Deck area as a location that could be improved with a recreation-based area that could compliment other phases of the City’s riverfront improvements at Civic Campus and Festival Park.
