The River Gallery has announced that they will be closing their doors at the end of July. The River Gallery is located in downtown Reno, and since it's opening in 2006, the gallery has been a tremendous asset to the downtown culture. Gallery owner and World-renowned artist, Alejandra Carpenter, announced earlier this month that she has decided to take time off from managing the River Gallery,“The gallery has been a labor of love” says Carpenter. When asked why the gallery was closing Carpenter stated she has simply decided to take some time off to renew her artistic energies.
Within the gallery you will find a greatly diverse level of work with most of the pieces being created by Carpenter herself. Allejandra's art boasts an energetic use of vibrant colors and distinct styles that has been sought after and purchased in many parts of the world. Carpenter's original impressionistic paintings are done in oils, acrylics, and watercolors, all reflecting her Hispanic heritage. The River Gallery also features photography, sculpture, and glasswork done by local artists. Carpenter and her husband intend to reopen the gallery in a new location, late 2013.
Throughout the month of July the community is invited to take advantage of reduced prices on most of the gallery pieces. A special closing sale is anticipated from July 22 through July 28 between 10am and 7pm. A formal closing reception will be held on Saturday, July 28 between 2-5pm with a special showing by local artists, Zach Piereno and Amber Marie.
The River Gallery is located at 135 N. Sierra St. Suite A-2, Reno, NV 89501
