A fun and sexy new tiki sci-fi, rock ‘n’ roll musical comedy is about to hit Sydney. RISKY LUNAR LOVE will play CarriageWorks’ Bay 20 theatre from September 15 for a limited season. Award-winning Director John Sheedy, highly acclaimed Choreographer John O’Connell, Designer Gypsy Taylor and Musical Director Ross Johnston (Machine Gun Fellatio) will unleash Luke Milton’s original story and music with an exciting young musical theatre cast.
This musical is a Tiki wonderland, Mai-Tai masterpiece, set to captivate audiences with the story of a sexy alien invader who manipulates the desires of two arch rival science-fiction writers in a bid to destroy our planet and colonise a new one. Featuring 17 musical numbers and a six piece band, RISKY LUNAR LOVE will play in a cabaret environment with the tables being served canapés and drinks.
“Risky Lunar Love is like watching a fantastical and bizarre lucid dream explored through several interweaving storylines and one hell of a party”, said producer Oliver Wenn. “The play explores one of our greatest natural fascinations, the power of an alternate reality and the ability to change our lives to suit our desires.”
The eleven main characters have a veritable feast of crazed desires that come bursting head to head in the panic of a world that is about to end. Hopefully the wild ride that an audience has been looking for, and the laughing bellyache they’ll never want to forget.
Luke Milton has written and directed Good Common Evil, Little Purple Happy and the critically acclaimed Five Unenviable Lives. John Sheedy is one of Australia’s leading and most exciting young directors and is renowned for his direction of Love and Some Explicit Polaroids.
