Rinzin and Leki Wangmo, master weavers and dyers from Bhutan, travel to Ann Arbor the weekend of July 24. The public is invited to come to Front Porch Textile studio for any or all of the events planned. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn how
Rinzin and Leki create silk brocade technique on a backstrap loom. Most textiles on display and for sale are of silk and cotton. Wool, yak, hemp and nettle are also fibers used in traditional Bhutanese weaving. They will also offer for sale textiles incorporating contemporary weaving designs. Leki supports the National Women’s Association of Bhutan, a non-governmental organization. Seating is limited for the Sunday lecture so please call or send an RSVP.
