Rich in tradition and custom, the Lunar New Year is the most important holiday for many Asian countries. To share the holiday with fellow Central Virginians, the local Chinese community will hold Richmond’s second free, public Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Short Pump Town Center.
Hands-on-activities and cultural displays will start at 11:00 AM; a Chinese New Year Parade featuring Lion and Dragon Dances will be at 11:30 AM; and performances by local Chinese groups will begin at Noon.
The Chinese New Year festival is the collaborative effort of the Richmond area’s major Chinese organizations and Short Pump Mall.
