Richardson Community Band Mother's Day Concert!

The Richardson Community Band will present the final concert in its 2009 Eisemann Concert Season on Sunday, May 10th at the Charles W. Eisemann Center in Richardson. The 2:00 p.m. concert will feature a wide variety of musical selections. Included in the program will be selections by American composers Cole Porter and Stephen Foster. The percussion section will be featured in a new transcription of Leroy Anderson's "Old MacDonald Had a Farm."
Featured guest ensemble for the concert will be the Plano Clarinet Choir. Also featured on the concert will be euphonium soloist Tom Fletcher performing "Beautiful Colorado."
Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the Eisemann Ticket Office, on the Internet (www.eisemanncenter.com) or by telephone (972-744-4650). Individual concert tickets are $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for children (K-12) & senior citizens.
For this special concert, all Mothers will be given free admission to the concert. In addition, the first 50 mothers will receive a complimentary Mother's Day carnation.
Plano Clarinet Choir to be Featured Ensemble
Featured guest ensemble for the concert will be the Plano Clarinet Choir. The Plano Clarinet Choir has been performing for over six years. The volunteer members of the group range in age from 18 to 79. The Plano Clarinet Choir specializes in playing audience-friendly tunes that most everyone knows from Gershwin, Porter, WC Handy, Joplin, Kern, etc., as well as pieces written especially for clarinet ensemble In addition to performing three selections by themselves, the clarinet choir will join forces with the Richardson Community Band on several selections.
Euphonium Soloist Performs with the RCB
Tom Fletcher will be the featured soloist performing "Beautiful Colorado." Tom is a graduate of South Garland High School and also attended East Texas State University. He is the president and co-founder for both the Dallas Christian Jazz Band and the Kleine Blasmusik German Band. He also plays with the Wilshire Wind eEnsemble, The Heritage Brass Band, Hallelujah Brass, Heavy Metal Tuba Quartet and the Blasmusik Texas German Band based out of San Antonio.
The band's performances are made possible in part by grants and services from the City of Richardson Arts Commission, the Richardson Woman's Club, the Target Corporation, Uncle Bob's Self Storage, Safeway, Kroger, Texas Instruments Foundation, Exxon Mobil Foundation, Richardson Arts Alliance and individual donors. Mothers Admitted Free
We honor Mom on her special day with free admission to the Richardson Community Band Mother's Day Concert. In addition, the First 50 Mothers will receive a free Mother's Day carnation. Pay special tribute to Mom on her special day by bringing the entire family for this special concert.
