"Within the hollow crown that rounds the mortal temples of a king keeps Death his court...."
In celebration of NWCTC's 10th Anniversary Season, an all-female cast presents Shakespeare' s RICHARD II. Set in a medieval world, the play comes alive today through the voices of contemporary women.
They tell the story of a king manipulated by flatterers and driven by greed for power. Convinced that God is on his side, he drives his country into poverty, wages foreign wars to enhance his image, bends the law to his own uses and ultimately is brought down by a new generation of politicians. Meanwhile, the planet is dying.
Sound familiar?
This all-female production is headed by Paige Jones as Richard and Cecily Overman as Bolingbroke. Sarah Dresser, Christy Drogosch, Brooke Fletcher, Melissa Kaiser, Mindi Logan, Melinda Strobel, Jennifer Untalan, and Northwest Classical Theatre Company members Allison Anderson and Racheal Erickson round out the ensemble. The play is directed by JoAnn Johnson.
Join us to hear this play as Shakespeare never heard it--brought to life through the vision and power of an ensemble of women.
