Nine exhibitions will include work by artists who use mathematics as a springboard for their creativity and will also feature poetry, music and performance. Artists and performers include: Sol LeWitt/Adrian Piper, Karen Finley/John Sims, Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky )/Dread Scott, John Hiigli/Vandorn Hinnant, Paulus Gerdes/Ken Hiratsuka, Anjali Bhargava/Swati Khurana. A group effort will be presented with the installation called MathArtist Cartesian Hive featuring some of the leading mathematical artists. Students from the advanced art class at the Brooklyn Academy for Science and the Environment (also known as BASE), under the direction of teacher Jennifer Lemish will present a group show of work exploring mathematics, art and nature. The final show will present the installation HyperQuilt featuring geometric quilts from different communities from around the country.
