Positive Community Norms and the Most of Us® initiative are centered in 3 areas: Spirit, Science and Action. Positive Community Norms involves young people from all 3 Shiprock High Schools. HOPE and a POSITIVE attitude are valuable to our COMMUNITY SPIRIT; especially when we know MOST young people are making good choices. It’s important to understand how we see ourselves, and to know we are guided by the best information possible. In addition we have deep concern for our young people who make dangerous decisions about their health. Laura McClenny has lived in the Four Corners area since 1980 after growing up in Kansas. Both sets of her great-great-grandparents were from Ireland. Laura has a B.A. from Fort Lewis College and a master degree from Prescott College in Intercultural Communication. She worked several years in Adult Education, Restorative Justice, private mediation and taught sociology at Fort Lewis College and San Juan College. She currently works 2 days a week in Shiprock to support the Diné Ba’Hozho Coalition – designed by Shiprock residents, San Juan County Partnership and San Juan Safe Communities. Randy W. John, Sr. is Tódích'íi'nii, and born for Hashk’aa hadzohí. He is a veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and has a B.A. in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College. He retired after 21 years as a police officer, and currently works with San Juan County Partnership as a Preventionist.
