Leigh Schmidt, professor of religion at Princeton, will draw from his new book, Restless Souls: The Making of American Spirituality - From Emerson to Oprah, to argue that the tension between settled churchgoers and a culture of churchless ?uneasy seekers? fascinated by mystical experience goes way back in our history.
