Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and is the leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide with about 1.3 million women diagnosed each year.
On October 3, join the Renton Safeway store in commending local breast cancer survivors at a day-long BBQ event. Speakers will include Trish May, Founder of Athena Partners & Breast Cancer Survivor; Dr. Connie Lehman, Director of Breast Imaging at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance; Kristin Hannah, bestselling author of Firefly Lane; and Dr. Jennifer Spect, a researcher specializing in inflammatory breast cancer.
This is a free event. Food will be available for purchase, and all the proceeds will go to breast cancer.
True to Safeway tradition, the month of October is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research and treatment. As an added enhancement to fundraising this year, stores in the Seattle Division region (Washington, Montana, Idaho and Alaska) will be honoring the many women who have heroically survived breast cancer.
