The third annual Relay For Life of Madison will be held on June 5-6 beginning at 4 p.m. at Madison High School on Ridgedale Avenue . Relay For Life is a overnight celebration of hope and
survivorship. Team members take turns walking or running a track for to fight cancer. The event opens with the Survivor Lap, as survivors of all forms of cancer are honored by the community, family and friends. At nightfall, hundreds of luminaria candles are lit, with each one symbolizing a loved one who won the fight against cancer, or honoring those lost to cancer.
Registration will be held from 4:00PM – 6:00PM. The opening ceremonies will be from 6:00PM – 6:30PM. The event will open with a cancer survivors’ lap. This lap symbolizes the courage that survivors and their families display and sustain in their lives. A dinner honoring survivors and caregivers will follow from 6:30PM – 7:30PM.
A Luminaria Ceremony honoring those lost to cancer and cancer survivors will be held at 9:00PM. Throughout the night, team members take turns walking laps around the track, trying to keep at least one person on the track at all time until the closing ceremonies early in the morning of June 6.
