Relations of Center and Periphery in the development of University Structures in Europe and Beyond. November 11, 2010

Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, the largest and oldest in Hungary, will celebrate the 375th anniversary of its foundation in 2010.

This event offers a unique opportunity to ask ICHU to collaborate on an academic conference in the capital of Hungary. Accordingly, we propose to host an international conference at the University Library, Budapest, on 12 -13 November 2010, with a focus on the “*Relations of Center and Periphery in the development of university structures in Europe and Beyond*”. The conference would attempt to examine influences and patterns that were followed in establishing new universities between the 17th – 20th centuries, and their relation to medieval and early modern universities.

Presentations can be made in English or German.
