Registration will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27 for Summer Session art classes for children and adults at the Las Cruces Museum of Art. Schedules and registration forms are available at the museum and on-line: www.las-cruces.org/museums.
Classes for young artists will include a variety of experiences with Drawing and Painting, Ceramics, Mixed Media, Mythological Art, Wonders of Nature, and Comic Book & Story Art. Morning and afternoon classes are scheduled in one-week increments, beginning the week of June 1-4 and ending the week of July 27 – 30. Classes meet Tuesday through Friday. The age groups are 5-8 and 8-12.
Saturday Summer Art Fiesta, for ages 5-12, will meet each Saturday, beginning June 4 and ending July 24. Projects vary each week and kids will have lots of fun while they explore drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media projects. This class requires pre-registration.
Classes for teens, ages 13 and up, are Ceramics and Digital Photography and Filmmaking. Older teens are also welcome to take adult classes.
The classes offered for adults are Drawing: The Graphic Novel, Drawing and Watercolor, Beginning Oil Painting Workshop, Digital Photography (Introductory or Intermediate/ Advanced), Photoshop, Ceramics (Beginners, Intermediate/ Advanced, or Independent Study) and Weaving. Classes are designed for all levels of adults who would like to build skills, learn techniques and explore the creative process. Adult art classes begin the week of June 7 and end July 24.
Registration fees are due by noon the Friday before the beginning of a session. To prevent class cancellations, we require a registration of 4-6 people. Please register early to ensure your place.
