We are Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2004. We are strongly committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries since September 11, 2001. It is our duty and our honor to assist severely injured Servicemen and Servicewomen and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and to coordinate the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.

Army SPC Joshua Wells was left a double amputee above the knees after an EFP attack in Iraq in November 2007. After volunteering to swap duties with a comrade, SPC Wells was injured while driving a Stryker vehicle on a routine refueling mission. Looking down after the explosion, SPC Wells realized that both of his legs were missing. A team member pulled him from the vehicle while a medic applied tourniquets preparing SPC Wells for medevac. First airlifted to Balad, Iraq, SPC Wells was immediately flown to Landstuhl, Germany and finally to Brook Army Medical Center in Texas where he began his recuperation and rehabilitation.

This is an event held in conjunction with Homes for Our Troops (www.homesforourtroops.org). It is a Registration to volunteer to help build a new, specially adapted home for double amputee Veteran SPC Joshua Wells. Donations of your time or money are greatly appreciated. Please see our website for more details. You can learn more about Joshua’s story at www.homesforourtroops.org/ms
