The Young People’s Chorus of Erie will host its third annual Honor Chorus Festival for children and music educators on Saturday, Nov. 13. The deadline for individual student and ensemble registration is Friday, Oct. 15.
The Honor Chorus Festival at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is a day-long celebration of song that will end in a public performance at 7:30 p.m. in the McGarvey Commons of the college’s Reed Union Building. Any singer age 7 to 18 is invited to spend the day working with Dr. Jason Bishop, artistic director of the Young People’s Chorus of Erie, in rehearsals for the evening concert. Choral directors and music educators will attend sessions with Bishop and guest clinicians to discuss topics such as conducting technique and choral pedagogy in the classroom.
The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is a youth outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend.
Registration cost for the Honor Chorus Festival is $25 for students and $15 for teachers or music directors; the fee will be waived for educators who bring eight or more students to the festival. Costs include lunch, dinner and a festival t-shirt. For more information or to register, phone the Young People’s Chorus of Erie at 814-898-6789.
