The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is looking for male singers ages 10 to 18 to participate in the Young Men in 20-Ten Honor Chorus Festival to be held on Saturday, June 19.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the power of the young male voice, the history and popularity of male singing, and the camaraderie of the young men’s choral experience,” Dr. Jason Bishop, founder and artistic director of YPC Erie, said. “Any young man with the ability to match pitch is invited to participate.”

June 19’s day-long event will include workshops on vocal pedagogy and history, plus rehearsals for an evening public performance.

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is the only comprehensive youth chorus organization in northwestern Pennsylvania. A regional outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, it is the first affiliate of the internationally acclaimed, multicultural Young People’s Chorus of New York City.

Registrations for the Young Men in 20-Ten Honor Chorus Festival will be accepted until Friday, May 28. The cost to participate is $25, which includes the singer’s lunch, dinner, and festival t-shirt. For registration materials, phone the YPC Erie office at 814-898-6789 or e-mail info@ypcerie.org.
