Join Houston Arboretum & Nature Center Naturalist teachers for fun-filled week long camps that explore the natural world through active hands-on indoor & outdoor adventures at this 155-acre nature sanctuary. Children are taught in classes by age groups with morning-only & all-day options lasting 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The weeks of 6/4-8 & 7/9-13, get to know the creepy crawlies around you in ‘Bugology.’ Search for insect homes, meet insects up-close, make your own insects, & go on six-legged safaris at the Nature Center. During the weeks of 6/11-15 & 7/16-20, learn all about adaptation for survival in ‘Eat or be Eaten.’ Come & find out how creatures great & small use smarts, speed, strength, special senses, & weapons to survive. Explore the wonderful world of water 6/18-22 & 7/23-27 in ‘Water Planet.’ Water cycles, a wetland safari, water creatures & water labs will make this week a splash! We will explore our toolbox of senses 6/25-29 & 7/30-8/3 in ‘Sensing Nature.’ Find out which animals taste through their feet, have natural radar, can locate prey by sensing heat & have an eye that contains 30,000 lenses. Find out what humans have in common with mice & even whales in ‘Magnificent Mammals’ on 7/2-6 & 8/6-10. We will close for July 4.
