Regis Schilken discusses & signs The Island Off Stony Point May 3, 2007

In Schilken’s most recent work, three people die in an assault on a monastery. Father Martin is one of several monks taken hostage in order to extort millions from the Catholic Church. They are imprisoned in a cavern on Phlatte Island in Lake Ontario.

Although Regis Schilken has retired as a Pittsburgh educator, the teachings of Benedictine monks over thirty-five years ago have continued to influence his thinking. He is captivated by issues such as good versus evil, and the enigma of existence itself. His stories reflect his search for meaning.
