THE STORY: Set just days before a presidential election, November, a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Mamet, involves President Charles H.P. Smith, who is on the verge of losing his bid for a second term (his numbers are “lower than Gandhi’s cholesterol”). He has no money for TV ads, or for a presidential library, or even for Secret Service protection. He is a bully and an idiot (“I always felt that I’d do something memorable—I just assumed it’d be getting impeached.”). The Oval Office is soon filled with his aide / chief-of-staff, his Lesbian speechwriter, a visitor who is escorting the Thanksgiving turkey for its traditional pardon, and a Native American with assassination in mind. Knock-out laughter for this election season!
