Reel Women for Real Women: "North Country" April 28, 2009

A fictionalized account of Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines, the first major successful sexual harassment case in the U.S, the film begins as Josey Aimes (Charlize Theron) left her physically abusive husband and is seeking a fresh start by joining a handful of women who work at the local mine because they can make far more money there than elsewhere. The men, however, see them as "taking a man's job away from him" and do not intend to make it easy for them to do so. Frances McDormand and Sissy Spacek also have roles in the film.
