As one of Singapore’s leading art galleries, REDSEA GALLERY is pleased to announce the exhibition of French sculptor, Val, opening 18th September 2010. As the exclusive representative of Val’s works in Singapore, REDSEA will be featuring a collection of more than thirty sculptures, ranging in size from 10 centimetres to two metres. This is the first time that life-size sculptures from Val will be featured anywhere in the world.
There are two elements that define Val’s works; the figure and the stage. The simplicity in her work melts away the distractions of the world and allows viewers to confront the nature of the human condition. She is drawn to things that are larger than the individual, therefore expressing the human form as fragile and unsteady.
Val is a self-taught artist and insists that she does not regret any technical or cultural shortcomings. Instead, she feels it gives her greater creative freedom. Living between Paris and Bangkok since 2004, Val seems to have found true freedom in Asia, and it is this particular way of life, that has given her the liberty to craft creatively.
Her works will be on display at REDSEA GALLERY from 18th September – 16th October 2010. REDSEA is immensely honoured to be associated with Val and excited to continue their association with her into the future in both their Singapore and Brisbane, Australia galleries.
