Haunting ghost stories, pretty canyon quilts and mountainous moonlight sonatas: Take an adventurous trek into the colorful world of Zion National Park with Red Rock Rondo, who will also preview their new song cycle based on the new book by Ted Gup, A Secret Gift, based on Canton history.

Red Rock Rondo performs on a lively assortment of guitars, violins, oboe, English horn, mandolin, harmonica, piano, upright bass and vocals. The musicians are composer Phillip Bimstein, internationally-known recording artist Kate MacLeod, Cowboy Poetry Gathering founder Hal Cannon, jazz bassist Harold Carr, and Salt Lake Symphony members, Flavia Cerviño-Wood and Charlotte Bell. Their music is a well-crafted synergy of folk and classical traditions.

Composer and former Springdale, Utah, mayor Phillip Bimstein composed Red Rock Rondo on a grant from the nationwide Continental Harmony commissioning program of the American Composers Forum. His alternative classical works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Abravanel Hall, London’s Royal Opera House, and his new wave band's videos appeared on MTV.

Red Rock Rondo's “Zion Canyon Song Cycle” CD reached #10 on the international Folk Radio lists. It is the subject of an Emmy-nominated music special produced by the Western Folklife Center, broadcast on regional PBS and available on high-definition DVD.
