from the website:"In the opening concert of Red’s fifth season, we encounter Beethoven’s masterful Seventh Symphony through the lens of the twentieth century. First we hear the Beethoven symphony filtered through the vision of John Cage’s Credo in Us. This work utilizes unusual percussion and an actual recording of the Seventh Symphony. We follow with the twentieth century orchestral showpiece Fantasia on an Ostinato by John Corigliano (The Red Violin), which explores and explodes the famous theme from the second movement of Beethoven’s symphony. Finally, we go back to the source with new insights: the Seventh Symphony is revealed."
