Realm of Dreams September 4, 2009

Over the years, ceramist Barbara Andino Stevenson and fiber artist Phyllis Thelen, working out of neighboring studios at Art Works Downtown, slowly recognized a shared understanding that their art came from a familiar place and their imaginations seemed to connect. After secretly borrowing creations from each other, Phyllis and Barbara soon started creating collaborative pieces which developed into an ethereal dreamlike series of mixed-media sculptures fashioned from natural materials such as clay and dried mulberry bark.

“Realm of Dreams” features 11 pieces at the Falkirk Cultural Center in conjunction with the “Home Show” and runs September 4 - October 3.

The opening reception, featuring singer Terry Garthwaite performing a live soundscape evoked by the art, will be held Friday September 4, 5:30-7:30pm.
