Come to our party!!!!
We REALLY like bad movies. In fact, one of our favorites, ?Hellriders,? is supplying us with an embarrassing amount of inspiration for our new evening-length work, ?State of the Union/Anonymous Sources,? which will be one of the first shows to premiere at the new CounterPULSE studios on June 17, 18, 24 and 25. We want to share our guilty pleasures.
Best of all, the movies will be projected larger than life on one of their fine big white walls. Programming includes
"Hellriders" by James Bryan, Ed Wood's
"Bride of the Monster," "Mystery Science Theater 3000," a montage of wonderfully bizarre stuff by Goldie-winner Dan Carbone and much more. There will be food, drink and good company all evening long.
Donations collected at this party will be split between
Right Brain Performancelab and
CounterPULSE, which is in the midst of setting up a brand new theater and studio. Every dollar helps.
CounterPULSE has absorbed the organization formerly known as 848 Community Space, which has provided low-cost, accessible performance, rehearsal and class space for thousands of dancers in the Bay Area for over a decade. They, like Dancers? Group, are a non-profit and are constantly trying to make ends meet while still keeping their space accessible to those of us who don?t have a gazillion dollars per hour to shell out for rehearsal time. If you do give $, they?re truly going for a good cause. Donations, of course, are all tax deductible. (Donation checks should be made out to "CounterPULSE.")
We look forward to seeing you there. Please rsvp to the e-mail address below so we know how much food to make!
Cost: $5-$20 NOTA
