Reading to Kids Book Drive April 22, 2010

Only 10 days left !!!

For the past several weeks, the Borders bookstore in Sherman Oaks has been hosting a book drive to support Reading to Kids (http://www.readingtokids.org).

Reading to Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates throughout Los Angeles. The mission of the group is to inspire underserved children with a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for future success.

We have successfully collected hundreds of books to be distributed to children throughout the city. But there is never enough.

The light in a child’s face when he or she is given a brand new book is well worth the few dollars it cost to purchase it.

How can you help? Simple ----> Go to Borders in Sherman Oaks at 14651 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 and pick out a book that was special to you as a child and that you want to share with another deserving little one. Purchase the book and inform the cashier that you would like to donate it to Reading to Kids. We’ll take care of the rest. If you don’t have a special book that you want to contribute, talk to one of our staff members and we can help you select an appropriate book that is popular with the kids.

Books needed primarily for elementary ages 6 – 12.
