Harmon Leon, author of ?Republican Like Me: Infiltrating Red-State, White-Ass, and Blue-Suit America,? will give a reading on Monday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at River City Books, located at 306 Division St. S. in downtown Northfield. A book signing will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
Powell?s Books has called Leon?s book ?outrageous?and hilarious, yet always illuminating.?
Calling himself a ?flaming liberal in real life?, Leon went undercover to find out what being conservative really means. Leon?s book explores the question that plagued many Democrats after the 2004 presidential election, the question of how the conservative mind works. Leon, once described as a cross between Michael Moore and the television series ?South Park,? entertains readers with his accounts of donning personas ranging from an angry convenience store clerk to a security guard at an Arnold Schwarzenegger rally.
Leon also is the author of ?The Harmon Chronicles.? An award-winning journalist, Leon has written for National Public Radio?s ?This American Life,? the San Francisco Chronicle, Maxim, Details, Wired, Cosmopolitan, Salon.com and others. He worked on Might magazine with Dave Eggers and has appeared on The Jamie Kennedy Show on the WB television network and The Howard Stern Show. Leon also is a stand-up comedian in San Francisco, California.
