The Reading Art Book Club (RABC) will hold its next meeting at 2:30 on Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 at the Las Cruces Museum of Art. The meeting will focus on the novel The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean, a tale of war-torn Leningrad and the memories of an art museum docent.
This meeting will be moderated by local author Linda G. Harris. With more than a dozen publications and four books to her credit, Harris has won the Zia Book Award, and twice the Southwest Book Award. Her latest book, Ghost Towns Alive: Trips to New Mexico's Past, was named one of the "Southwest Books of the Year" by the Tucson-Pima Library.
The Reading Art Book Club is dedicated to exploring the connections between art and literature by reading and discussing books. As much as possible, books selected will relate, echo, or enhance the Museum’s varied exhibitions. Upcoming selections include Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay and Tom Wolfe’s The Painted Word. The club plans to meet the second Wednesday of every month.
The Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 491 N. Main St. in the downtown mall. For more information about exhibits and Studio Programs art classes call 575-541-2137 or visit the website http://museums.las-cruces.org
