The Reading Art Book Club (RABC) will hold its next meeting at 2:30 on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Las Cruces Museum of Art. The meeting will focus on the non-fiction work In the Land of the Temple Caves: From St. Emilion to Paris’s St. Sulpice: Notes on Art and the Human Spirit by New Mexico author Frederick Turner. In this book, Turner explores the power of art to revitalize humanity by traveling to France and studying ancient cave paintings. Upcoming selections include The Madonna’s of Leningrad by Debra Dean for April 8th.
The Reading Art Book Club is dedicated to exploring the connections between art and literature by reading and discussing books. As much as possible, books selected will relate, echo, or enhance the Museum’s varied exhibitions. The club plans to meet the second Wednesday of every month.
The Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 491 N. Main St. in the downtown mall. For more information about exhibits and Studio Programs art classes call 575-541-2137 or visit the website http://museums.las-cruces.org
