The RBLS along with the City of Inverness is celebrating Armed Forces Day this year with a Parade made up of military Past, Present and Future, including the Tri Cadet (this their 150th Anniversary year) Services, all in conjunction with a Traditional Highland Games (to which the Armed Services always played a large part) in the Northern Meeting Park. The Parade will form up outside Marks & Spencer’s in the Eastgate Centre at 12.15 hrs and steps off at 1300 hrs lead by Massed Pipe’s & Drum’s headed by the Royal Air Force Kinloss Pipe Band.

A ceremony of “Marching on the Colours” will take place outside the Town House. The Parade will then proceed to the NMP and along the way a VIP Salute will be taken by The Right Honourable Major General Seymour Monro CBE; the Parade then enters the NMP where various military Armament/Displays will be taking place along side the Highland Games and their various displays. There will be a Veterans enclosure where all veterans will be made welcome.

At the end of the Armed Forces Day events a Drumhead Service will take place with a presentation ceremony of Veterans Badges by the VIP. Also as this year is the Seventieth Anniversary of the Battle for St Valery (Inverness is twinned with the Town of St Valery) we will have Veterans of this Battle attending for a Special Presentation Ceremony to be filmed by a small film crew from St Valery.
