HDIF Presents
Thursday 16th September
Ray Rumours + The Madrigals
Speedies, 81 Redchurch Street, London E27DJ, FREE admission

Now that Ros is busy with Trash Kit, I really thought I'd never get the chance to see Ray Rumours ever again. I bought their "Le Pont Suspendu" album after seeing the band's last UK show at last year's Indietracks, and have been dying to see these wondrous songs live ever since. So I was delighted when I saw that they were playing the Berlin Popfest at the start of September and fired off a hopeful email to Ros straight away...et voila, here we are! I couldn't be more excited.

This show is free and will be held at Speedies vintage furniture shop, just off Brick Lane. The evening will start at 7.30pm, with The Madrigals on at 9pm and Ray Rumours on at 10pm. Speedie has a gorgeous old twin deck soundsystem from the Seventies which I'll be playing vinyl records on before, between and after the bands. If you'd like to hear a song, please bring it along on vinyl. Being in the shop is like sitting in someone's front room, so we can have a mini house party with the bands. There will be a small bar.

If you haven't heard Ray Rumours or The Madrigals before, here's some info on them:

Ray Rumours
Ray Rumours is the solo project of Ros Murray, ex of Electrelane and currently of Trash Kit, although she is usually accompanied by her friends in The Madrigals live (some of whom you'll also recognise from Trash Kit). Her latest album, "Le Pont Suspendu", was recorded using only acoustic instruments, including a grand piano and a cardboard drum kit, and is quietly joyous, romantic, intimate, and heartbreaking.

The Madrigals
A five piece from London, The Madrigals make music that is influenced by traditional English folk music but sounds more like Electrelene and Sufjan Stevens. "Every song is a new and exciting adventure with banjos being swapped for violins, guitars for xylophones and accordians and it is all very exciting," said Tasty Zine, which sounds good to us.
