Rapture in Rupture features the works of four young artists from across the country who create poignant objects that powerfully stir viewers’ emotions and physical senses through the use of bold formal elements, tactile materials, and provocative and elusive narratives. Cross-hybridization, formally and conceptually, is a key characteristic of each of their individual practices. In the exhibition, paintings and drawings expand to encompass the world of sculpture and installation while sculptural forms find expression in moving images as well as two-dimensional space. Together, these works demonstrate that rapturous intent can operate on many levels but is most potent at the ever-fluid margins that exist between multiple dimensions.
